About Eagle lake

Fed by underground springs and seasonal creeks, there are 100 miles of shoreline and 42 sq. miles of clear waters.  The lake’s elevation of 5100 feet makes the nights comfortably cool with summertime temperatures ranging daily between 85-95 degrees. Eagle lake has plenty of room for water sports, including recreational watercraft of all kinds.

Hikers and Mountain Bikers will enjoy the miles of trails. The Lassen National Forest and BLM lands have miles of ATV, OHV and 4WD approved trails. We have access to the BLM trails right off of our campground. Birdwatchers and wildlife admirers will love Eagle Lake. Bald Eagles, Golden Eagles, Pelicans and Osprey are often seen soaring in the skies. You will also see many other types of wildlife during your stay.

Eagle Lake was created by the melting of glaciers during the last ice age and it is the second largest natural lake in California. It covers 22,000 acres with over 100 miles of shoreline. Located at an elevation of 5,100 feet, it is surrounded by dense towering evergreen forests of pine and cedars at the south end and rugged, high elevation desert scrub on the northern most portion. Five National Forest campgrounds are nestled in the forest at the south end of the lake.
